Bluff Creek
Welcome to the most civilized Mountain Bike Ranch in the Austin area; Bluff Creek Ranch in Warda, Tx.  They have running water, restrooms, showers, a mechanic and spare parts.  Hungry,  come inside, take a load off and have a home grown hamburger.  If you came here to ride, have at it.  the trail begins and ends at the main house.  I think it would be best to have a nice dual suspension bike to ride this trail, but I did it on a Raleigh C200 Hybrid bike with street tires.  The huge handicap here was a reluctance to really let loose and have fun.  There are lots of great areas.  They are appropriately named and represent many different types of terrain and conditions.  Altho it was relatively easy, I wouldn't recommend this for a total beginner unless you are in otherwise good shape.  I can't wait to go back.  Oh, they also offer overnite camping... but LaGrange is just down the road and they have AC and beds...
West of Houston, this is stretching it for a one day ride.  So, don't stretch, spend the night.  You'll want a couple of days to enjoy this rugged bicycle ranch on the edge of the beautiful Texas Hill Country.  This is a total climactic, geological and botanical change from our East Texas.
The main house.
A meloncholy ending to a wonderful day.  One minor problem... we had no idea where we were and we still had miles to go.
