If you've got boys, you need to be sure to get them involved in Scouting.
They begin as Cub Scouts in those little blue uniforms. They meet only once a week. There's only one camp out and one more field trip type over nite outing a year, so it's not hugely demanding on your family schedule like some athletic programs are. (Moderation.)
They learn life skills like knot tying and first aid. They have a lot of opportunity to earn rewards. These are surprisingly easy to achieve but one more learning step is that in order to complete, one has to begin!
They have and participate in Awards Ceremonies a couple times a year. They can easily gain a lot of recognition thereby building higher self-esteems.
They are led by den mothers and often meet in homes, or at a church. Matthew's Den Mother was Nancy Smithey. She was a Den Leader for 10 years.
At Bicycle Sports, we are proud to be involved in Scouting. We have sponsored Go-and-See's for many area troops. The kids have a great time and we help them in their advancement in the scouting program. For more information please contact us.
